The Tweet That Changed the World
By PRUNE Editorial·4–5 min read
On November 30, 2022, a short tweet appeared on Twitter.

And little did the world know, this simple tweet would mark the beginning of a new era.
When AI Became Everyone's Conversation
Artificial intelligence wasn't born in 2022. Researchers had been working on it for decades, and AI was already part of many technologies we used every day.
But ChatGPT made interacting with AI feel different.
You didn't need to be a programmer. You didn't need to understand machine learning. You could simply open a conversation, ask a question, and see what happened.
People began using it to explain complicated concepts, write stories, debug code, and explore new ideas. AI was no longer just something people read about. It was something they could experience themselves.
And soon, a new wave of AI products began appearing everywhere.
Writing assistants. Image generators. Coding tools. Research assistants. Video generators. AI agents.

The possibilities kept expanding, and with every new capability came another tool to explore.
AI was becoming more accessible than ever.
But greater access brought an unexpected challenge.
The Other Side of the AI Revolution
At first, discovering a new AI tool was exciting. But as the ecosystem grew, finding the right one became increasingly complicated.
There were more products to compare, more promises to evaluate, and more platforms claiming to be the next big thing.
Finding an AI tool was becoming easier. Finding a good AI tool was becoming harder.
A product could look impressive in a demonstration but fall short in practice. Another could solve a genuine problem exceptionally well but remain difficult to discover. Some tools offered overlapping features, while others made claims that were difficult to evaluate.
And then came the questions.
Which tool actually solves my problem? Is it worth my time? Does it do what it claims? Is there a better alternative?
The challenge was no longer simply gaining access to AI. It was making sense of everything that access had created.

We Don't Need More Noise. We Need Better Discovery.
Imagine looking for an AI tool to help you research a topic.
You find dozens of options, each with a polished website and impressive claims. You open one, then another, then another.
An hour later, you still haven't found the one you need.
Now imagine a different experience: discovering a carefully selected set of tools, understanding what they offer, and deciding which ones are worth exploring without navigating an endless catalogue.
The difference isn't the number of options available.
It's the quality of discovery.
And that's where PRUNE comes in.
Why We Started PRUNE
PRUNE began with a simple idea: AI discovery should be about finding what matters, not scrolling through everything that exists.
We wanted to build a place that values curation over quantity, usefulness over hype, and clarity over clutter.
Our goal is to help students, developers, creators, and professionals discover AI tools worth exploring.
We're not trying to list everything simply because it exists. We want to make discovering AI more intentional.
But building a useful discovery platform takes more than collecting product names and descriptions.
The information needs to be dependable. Links should lead to the right destinations. And the tools presented should be worth people's attention.
That's why we're putting time into the systems and checks behind PRUNE, not just the experience people see on the screen.
Why We're Taking Our Time
We could rush to add more products and make PRUNE look bigger.
But that would defeat the purpose.
Presenting incomplete information or unreliable links would undermine the very reason we're building this platform.
We know no product starts perfect. There will always be things to improve and lessons to learn. But we believe in getting the fundamentals right, being honest about what works, and building something people can trust.
We'd rather make meaningful progress than rush out something incomplete.
This Is Just the Beginning
The AI revolution is still unfolding. New products will emerge, new capabilities will develop, and the way we work with technology will continue to change.
But one thing is clear: having more choices doesn't automatically make choosing easier.
That's the problem we want PRUNE to help solve.
We're building it one step at a time, with the hope that finding the right AI tool will become a little less overwhelming.
Because in a world that keeps adding more, sometimes the most useful thing we can do is help people find what matters.
Welcome to PRUNE. Less noise. Better discovery.
